The English School is the first bilingual school in Finland to offer education in Finnish and English. The school comprises a two-year preschool, an elementary school, a middle school and a high school. We have about 700 students between the ages of 5 and 19. At the end of high school, students take the Finnish matriculation examinations.

We are a traditional and safe school community, where students, guardians and staff know one another and act in close collaboration. We provide a nurturing environment in line with our core values: compassion, integrity and excellence.

Preschool

Located at Mäntytie 14, Meilahti, Helsinki

We believe that a successful classroom is a room full of children growing in an exciting, creative and nurturing environment. Each child’s physical, psychological and social growth, along with the development of your child’s knowledge and skills, are supported in our preschool education. Playing and using one´s imagination have an important role in a child’s positive development and their learning of new knowledge and skills. Daily activities further provide children with continual opportunities to develop their English language skills and explore phenomena that are of interest to them. Feeling comfortable and confident are also important components of our preschool curriculum.

The English School preschool offers a total immersion, two-year English language preschool program, providing a developmentally appropriate core curriculum based on the Finnish national curriculum. It is the perfect preparation for entry into The English School bilingual (Finnish-English) elementary program.

Our preschool is a two-year program and the first year, Preschool 1, begins the year your child turns five. The second preschool year is Preschool 2.

Preschool 1 hours are 12.00-16.00

Preschool 2 hours are 8.00-12.00

Both Preschool 1 and Preschool 2 are taught in two groups and each group has an assistant.
